I am braided and I am from Westeros!

There are a few things that keep me busy these past days aside from taking care of my family;

1. Braiding - Inspired by Emilia Clarke's hairstyle in GoT (Game of Thrones) I researched on the kind of braid she is wearing in the show. I watched a few videos on how to do it and practice doing the same to my daughter. I felt triumphant after a few tries. Now, my princess wears her hair in varied ways to school thus making a fad among her classmates. I can just imagine them styling each others hair during their free time. I hope to learn more styles and add them to my list below;

-Waterfall Braid
-Chinese Staircase
- Twist
- Magnet
-Waterfall Ladder
-Faux Braid

2. So it is obvious, if I got this recent interest from Daenerys' hairstyles, then the show must have all the influence on me. GAME OF THRONES has so much to offer both from those who are reading or watching the story. It is a fantasy series by HBO but it seems that you are watching a movie. The book will also get you hooked page by page and the author George R. R. Martin makes each character compelling. You can never predict how the characters will evolve because of  the dynamism injected on them.

Cool to Homeschool

Does she have a problem? or Is she a TV personality? How's her socialization skills?

Just few questions I usually encountered whenever I inform someone that my child is being home schooled. That was three years ago, and not a single moment that I regret this decision. When my daughter finally entered a regular school she is armed with confidence to do her academic tasks and extra-curricular activities as well. Her self-esteem is high and unbreakable. She knows what she is good at and acknowledges what needs to be polished or improved. I owe this all to Homeschooling. I have said time and again that if you fail to breastfeed your child during the infant stage then you can make it up through homeschooling. It is definitely the next best thing to bond with your child.

Homeschooling is a blessing or must I say is a gift from God. When you have doubts about sending your child to regular school and you feel you can be his teacher as well then why not. Follow you instincts and you may discover a very rewarding experience for the whole family.

Hello Iloilo 2010

We welcomed the morning sun on May 12, 2010 as my daughter and I eagerly anticipated our long planned trip to Iloilo which will commence on that day. Everything went as scheduled, we were fetched by my cousins who are joining the trip with us. Armed with our backpacks and excitement, we took the road leading to the domestic airport. Traffic was a bit cooperative, giving us around an hour to travel from Kamuning, Quezon City to Pasay where the airport is located. My daughter's heart skipped a beat upon arriving in the airport, it is going to be her first time to take this kind of transportation. We immediately looked for our counter and checked in. We still had extra time to take a part 2 of our breakfast and my daughter and I headed to Kopiroti while the rest of the group ordered from Yellow Cab.

The walk from the lounge to the tube was an experience to remember, every step brings us closer to our adventure. The plane did not leave as scheduled we waited for around thirty minutes but the extended time allowed more fun for the group. The plane ride was comfortable with a short turbulence which my daughter, Kaila gaily called a "CLOUD RIDE". She screamed with gusto and happiness imagining it was a great rollercoaster ride.

Despite the delay on our departure, we landed on time in Iloilo airport, we were all awed by how modern the place is and indeed it is an international airport. We waited for some minutes to retrieve our baggages while doing so Kaila kept on bugging her cousins if they have seen any lifeform outside.
Going to the city proper was very easy, there are vans, cabs and shuttle services that can transport you to your destination. Since we are a big group of eight, we decided to hire a van for Php500 from the airport to our hotel. A small group can take a cab for less than Php300 to any point in the city proper. It was a discovery ride for us and the children, they were fascinated by the bigger form of jeepneys as compared to the ones in Metro Manila. We conveniently arrived to our hotel and we only freshened up a little and put down our backpacks and we headed to fun, fun, fun!

First stop is to have our lunch in Roberto's Siopao, located in JM Basa St. The place was full of customers when we arrived and we needed to wait for some minutes to get a table good for eight. We ordered their King Siopao, Pancit Sotanghon while some of the children opted for their plates of chicken and meatball with rice. We were bit saddened by their announcement that the Queen Siopao will be available only from May17-22 (we will be in Roxas City, Capiz by then).
